Here are some useful tips and a suggested timeline
to get your ultimate Belize Adventure underway. The sooner you start
planning the better, so everyone is ready and well prepared for
the exciting journey ahead.
Step
1: Contact Island Expeditions Co. to discuss your learning
objectives, timeline, budget, and travel details. To help you successfully
integrate an educational trip in Belize with your curriculum and
ensure that we come up with the most suitable itinerary possible
we have come up with an Itinerary
Questionnaire that will provide some of the information we need
to better understand your goals.
Step
2: It may be necessary to obtain your school’s approval
or present them with a proposal detailing the itinerary and intended
learning outcomes. IEC will provide referrals from teachers who
have gone on our trips and/or information on finances, insurance,
safety, etc as is needed.
Step
3: Recruit your students! With a clear objective in mind
you are now ready to announce this opportunity to your students.
Setting up a display, downloading our Educational Trips Poster,
or sending a letter out to students or placing it in the school
newsletter are all ways of publicizing the program.
Step
4: Hold a Parent-Student meeting outlining the trip, the
long-term benefits for the students and some highlights about Belize.
IEC will provide images, descriptions, detailed itineraries and
testimonials from past students/teachers for the meeting as well
as a Sample Letter,
which you can send out to parents while planning this meeting. During
the meeting it is important to introduce IEC and why you have chosen
them, review the educational component of the trip, address the
registration fees, insurance and payment plan as well as answer
any questions parents and students may have.
Step
5: Have the committed students fill out an application
with their parents, collect the deposit payments and send these
in to our office. Don’t forget to allow some time for any
students who have missed the meeting to sign up. Refer your students
and their parents to our website for extra information about IEC,
Belize, and their upcoming adventure.
Step
6: We’ll take care of the details!
"This
trip changed my life in so many ways. I want to say a special thank
you to all of our guides. They helped me in more ways then they
will ever understand"
